About Us
Southern Regional Veterinary Specialists (SRVS) serve a unique
function for the veterinary community that includes parts of
Alabama, Georgia and Florida. SRVS is a referral only hospital
that offers advanced services not available through your primary
care veterinarian. The board-certified surgeons at SRVS offer
diagnostic procedures and surgical treatment for orthopedic, soft
tissue, neurologic, thoracic and oncologic diseases. We do
not perform routine or preventative medical or surgical procedures
unless specifically requested by your veterinarian. Southern
Regional Veterinary Specialists was founded by Robert A. Martin
DVM, DACVS in 2008 and is located in Dothan, Alabama. He
practices with his son; R. Brian Martin DVM, MS, DACVS. This
is one of only two father/son small animal veterinary surgical
facilities in the United States.
Philosophy of
Care: Compassion, Skill, and Service. At SRVS
we believe we have been given a special responsibility to provide
compassionate quality care in a timely manner for you and your
companion. We strive to develop strong relationships with you,
our patients, and our referring veterinarians. Our boarded
veterinary surgeons and emergency veterinarians have been trained
to diagnose and treat a wide variety of disorders which most
general hospitals refer for specialized care.
Appointments: A
referral from a general veterinary practitioner or emergency
service should accompany all appointments for
SRVS. Information from the referring veterinarian regarding
the patient's medical history, previous treatments, laboratory data
and radiographs (x-rays) will be very helpful to our surgeons
in managing your pet. A personal phone call and summary of the
diagnostics, treatment, plan and discharge instructions will be
provided for your veterinarian following the appointment and/or
patient discharge.
Prior to your consultation appointment, please withhold food
(not water) from your pet for 12 hours. This
minimizes risk of complications regarding sedation and
anesthesia. Consultation with our boarded surgeons involves review
of previous tests submitted by your veterinarian, a detailed
examination - often with sedation, potential radiographs and/or
other diagnostic tests, and recommendations regarding
therapy. Most visits are surgical cases that are frequently
operated the same day as the consultation. Our facility is
staffed so that we are able to provide efficient service for your
convenience and minimizing the time your pet is hospitalized.
The majority of our cases are hospitalized overnight, cared for by
our emergency staff after hours, and discharged the next day.
Discharge instructions, medications and review of therapy will be
provided at discharge.
Payment:
Payment is expected at the time of service. For your convenience we
accept cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and CareCredit. We
understand financial concerns and provide an itemized estimate of
your pet's procedure at the time of your consultation. A
deposit is required at the time your pet is admitted to the
hospital. The balance is due at the time of discharge. We offer CareCredit
for qualified clients if a payment plan is requested.
