Our Doctors
Robert A. Martin DVM, DACVS
Bob graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary
Medicine, earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1976.
He served in the United States Air Force Veterinary Corps (1976 -
1980) prior to completing a combined anesthesiology and small
animal surgery residency (New York State College of Veterinary
Medicine, Cornell University, 1980 - 1983). He joined the faculty
of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at
Virginia Tech (1983 - 2008) where he became Professor and Director,
Veterinary Teaching Hospital (1993 - 2007). He completed
certification boards in the American Board of Veterinary
Practitioners (1984) and the American College of Veterinary
Surgeons (1988) and he was a member of the Virginia Tech Academy of
Teaching Excellence (1992 - 2008). He has published numerous
articles, trained many veterinary students, small animal interns
and surgical residents, and conducted numerous continuing education
programs in small animal surgery for veterinary practitioners. He
is a member of Phi Zeta Honor Society and was recognized as the
Virginia Veterinarian of the Year in 1999. He retired from his
faculty appointment in 2008 to open Southern Regional Veterinary
Specialists (2008) and Southern Regional Veterinary Emergency
Services (2009). He resides on his family farm in Headland with his
wife and is actively involved in ministry at the First Baptist
Church, Headland.
R. Brian Martin DVM, MS, DACVS
Brian is a 1998 graduate of Virginia Tech (Bachelor of Science,
Biochemistry). He earned Master of Science (2003) and Doctor of
Veterinary Medicine (2005) degrees from Virginia-Maryland Regional
College of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, he worked as
a general small animal practitioner in Tallahassee, FL (2005 -
2006) prior to completing a small animal rotating internship in a
small animal private specialty practice in Albuquerque, NM (2007).
Brian next completed a small animal surgery residency at the
University of Minnesota (2010) and worked as a small animal surgeon
in Cincinnati, OH (2011) while he met requirements for board
certification, becoming a member of the American College of
Veterinary Surgeons (2011). He joined Southern Regional Veterinary
Specialists (2011) as a staff surgeon. Brian and his wife, Lisa,
have three daughters.
Lisa Z. Martin, DVM
Lisa studied Animal and Poultry Science at Virginia Tech where
she was an active member of the University Honors Program before
entering veterinary college. Lisa was inducted into Phi Zeta
Veterinary Honor Society (2003) and graduating as a Doctor of
Veterinary Medicine from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of
Veterinary Medicine (Summa Cum Laude, 2004). Lisa has worked as a
small animal practitioner in Virginia, Florida, New Mexico,
Minnesota, and Ohio, becoming skilled in the diagnosis and
management of small animal diseases and has a strong comfort level
with exotic pets. She has developed an interest in emergency
medicine and now serves as an emergency veterinarian with SRVES.
Lisa and her husband, Brian, have three daughters.
Brittney Reynolds, DVM
Brittney graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary
Medicine in 2011, after receiving a Bachelor of Science degree from
Troy University in 2006. Brittney completed a rotating internship
at Colorado State University in 2012 where she was elected "Intern
of the Year." She also has been the recipient of numerous academic
and professional achievement awards and was most recently a
participant in the High Park Fire animal rescue effort in Fort
Collins, CO. She accepted the position of full time emergency
practitioner at SRVES is July 2012. Brittney enjoys running,
biking, and hiking in her spare time and shares her home with
several four legged children, two dogs, two cats, two goats, and
one horse.
